The Zeekr 9X is a full-size luxury SUV that is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), distinguishing it from Zeekr’s all-electric lineup. It combines a powerful gasoline engine with multiple electric motors to offer both a substantial electric-only range and a massive total combined range.
Design and Interior
The 9X is an imposing 5-door vehicle designed to rival high-end SUVs like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Range Rover. It typically seats six passengers in a luxurious 2-2-2 configuration, with an optional ultra-luxury four-seat layout also available.
The cabin emphasizes luxury and technology:
- Seating: Second-row “zero-gravity” individual seats are standard with extensive comfort features including electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions.
- Screens: The cockpit features a large 16-inch central display, a digital instrument panel, and an optional large AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display). Rear passengers can also have an additional 17-inch rear entertainment screen on the ceiling.
- Premium Audio: Higher trims include a high-end Nym or Yamaha surround sound system with up to 32 speakers.
Powertrain and Performance
The 9X uses Zeekr’s SEA Hybrid system, which is a powerful plug-in hybrid setup built on a 900-volt architecture. The gasoline engine primarily acts as a generator to power the electric motors and charge the battery.
- Engine: A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is used as part of the hybrid system.
- Power Output: The standard dual-motor system produces 660 kW (around 885-898 hp). A top-tier variant with three motors (one front, two rear) boasts an incredible combined output of 1,030 kW (approximately 1,381 hp or 1,400 PS).
- Acceleration: The most powerful variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. Standard versions do it in 3.9 to 4.2 seconds.
- Transmission: It uses a single-speed automatic transmission (specifically a 1st gear DHT – Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) for seamless power delivery.
Battery, Range, and Charging
The 9X offers flexibility in range through different battery sizes and hybrid capabilities.
- Battery Options: Available with 55 kWh or 70 kWh NMC battery packs.
- Pure Electric Range: The CLTC electric-only range is between approximately 230 km (143 miles) and 302 km (188 miles), depending on the battery size.
- Total Combined Range: The total comprehensive range with a full fuel tank (50L) and a full battery can reach up to 1,250 km (around 780 miles).
- Charging: Thanks to its 900V architecture, the 9X supports ultra-fast charging. It can charge from 20% to 80% in as little as 9 minutes using a high-power DC charger.
